Cranial Osteopathy
Developed in the early 1900s in America, cranial osteopathy is a specialised form of diagnosis and treatment using very gentle yet powerful techniques working on stress and tension held deep within the body.
The cranial osteopath uses a highly refined sense of touch to identify areas of stress, torsion and restriction within the tissues and gentle pressure to correct these disturbances.
Cranial osteopaths are trained to feel a very subtle, rhythmical shape change that is present in all tissues of the body.
What can it treat?
While it can be highly effective at relieving symptoms cranial osteopathy aims to treat the whole person not just the condition, so a very wide range of situations may benefit from treatment. These may include back and neck pain; joint pain and sports injuries; headaches, migraines and sinus problems; stress; recurrent infection; period pain; digestive difficulties; and treatment may also benefit general health and well-being.
In babies and children many problems such as crying, colic, sickness, wind, feeding difficulties, sleep disturbances, behaviour problems as well as others may all be helped. If you are not sure whether a problem is suitable for osteopathic treatment, please call the clinic and discuss your case with our cranial osteopath, who will be happy to answer your questions.
