Pilates Yoga and Tai Chi Class Information

The Totalcare Clinic run Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi classes at our practice located in Botley Southampton. 

All courses are 6 weeks in duration; each class is one hour long. Numbers are limited to between 6-8 in a class depending on the difficult level of the class.

This allows proper supervision for each member of the class. Unfortunately we do not offering drop in classes, the main reason for this is to allow a cohesive within the group and allow them to progress at the same rate.

Prior to the course starting any new participants will undergo a 15-minute free consultation with their instructor to discuss their needs, concerns and previous medical history.

This means that all instructors are able to develop a program truly prescriptive to your condition and body type.

Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi Class Descriptions

Back Care PilatesThese Pilates classes are designed for those people suffering from back pain.  Even if you are currently receiving treatment for your condition these classes are designed to complement that treatment. If there are particular areas of concern our instructor is able to discuss your condition with one of our qualified osteopaths.

By separating people into specific classes depending on the location of the pain, this aids the instructor in being able to focus on only those exercise that are suitable for that area.

Yoga for Relaxation and Meditation This class has all the benefits associated with our Yoga for Beginners class however it has been extended to run for an additional 15 mins in order to allow for a more relaxed approach to the class format and facilitate a more complete spiritual, mind and body experience.

Whilst classes will be suitable for all individuals they are viewed as a general course rather than a class to treat specific issues. If you have a specific area of concern that needs working on please look at the other courses we offer or indeed contact us to see if we are planning on running a course that may be more suitable for you and your specific needs.

1:1Also available at The Totalcare Clinic are individual 1:1 classes for both Yoga and Pilates. At the clinic we appreciate the importance of individualised rehabilitation and for those more acute and/or complicated journeys to full recovery, sometimes it’s vital a closer eye be kept on those participant in order to maximise their results.

We also understand that despite the variety of times and days offered for classes, there still may not be a suitable option to fit into our busy lifestyles. The 1:1 class therefore allows you to arrange a time that suits you. With all instructors offering this option, we are normally able to accommodate most requests.

Tai Chi Tai Chi is particularly suitable for older people as it helps them to develop stronger muscles, reduce stress, improve posture, balance, increase concentration and generally increase mobility. This makes it invaluable in helping people to prevent falls. It can also help to combat problems of the heart, breathing and digestive system as well as relieving stress.

Additional courses We are also planning on running specific courses for runners, cyclists, racket sports enthusiasts and equestrians based in both Pilates and Yoga.
