IDD Therapy

Do you have a persistent back pain or neck pain which is having a negative impact on your life?

If you have been in pain for some time and your condition is making it difficult to go about your normal daily activities, the IDD Therapy Programme at The Totalcare Clinic is designed to help you.

What is IDD Therapy?

Intervertebral Differential Dynamics (IDD) Therapy is the successful and trusted non-surgical spinal decompression treatment for back pain, neck pain and related conditions such as sciatica.

Many back pain conditions are located at a particular level in the spine. With IDD Therapy we use computer-controlled pulling forces delivered by the SDS SPINA medical device to gently distract (draw apart) targeted segments of the spine in order to take pressure off specific discs and nerves whilst at the same time, gently stretching tight muscles and stiff ligaments.

By decompressing (taking pressure off) an injured or bulging disc and stretching the soft tissues, we can improve mobility in the spine and allow the body’s natural healing mechanisms to operate more efficiently.  In so doing, we can relieve pain caused by muscle spasm and alleviate nerve compression and irritation caused by bulging discs.

As clinicians, we can treat most back and neck pain with manual therapies but for some conditions – particularly those which are disc-related – patients need something more to help their condition improve.

Why choose IDD Therapy?

Why choose IDD Therapy?

  • Current treatment is not working
  • Want to stop taking painkillers
  • Seeking long-term pain relief
  • Want to return to normal daily activities

Typical candidates for IDD Therapy are people who have back or neck pain and may have tried various other treatments without success.

They may be taking pain medication and may be considering invasive treatments such as injections or in extreme cases, surgery.

IDD Costs

If you would like to come and discuss your specific case and whether IDD Therapy would be suitable for you, we suggest you make an hours consultation with one of our principle Osteopaths. This would allow you not only to understand the process of the IDD treatment but a detailed viewing of any MR scans, a physical examination, including orthopaedic tests and if required physical treatment.

We recommend this option if you are looking to start IDD Therapy as it’s important to us that you are a good candidate for the treatment and therefore not wasting your money!

This option is at the standard Principle Osteopathic cost of £60

If you are deemed a suitable candidate for IDD, the treatment is charged at a cost of:
£75 for one hours treatment appointment.

If you would prefer to purchase a course of 10 treatments, this would be at a cost of:

In addition to the expected 10 treatments of IDD, you would be given, FREE OF CHARGE, two 30 minutes sessions of either 1:1 Pilates or sports massage. This is a potential saving of £64. We have discovered that the Sports Massage option does facilitate the changes caused by IDD treatment and the Pilates aids long term rehabilitation.

You will be advised by your practitioner as to which would better suit your requirements during your treatment.

Clinic Directors – Ian Stuart & Michelle Mc William

Michelle “For a few years we have been thinking about the need to do more for a certain type of back pain sufferer. Whilst we can get most of our patients back on their feet with manual therapy, exercise, clinical pilates, accupuncture etc, there is a group who need something more to take pressure off their discs.”

Ian “IDD Therapy spinal decompression helps fill a void. There are such good results at IDD Therapy clinics and having had treatment myself, we now have a treatment tool which offers non-invasive solutions for patients who need something more for their pain.

The team are really passionate about their work and combined with our existing treatments we have, we feel we have something to offer all patients before they make a step towards invasive treatments such as injections and surgery.”

The Totalcare Clinic in Botley is part of a UK network of IDD Therapy providers which includes physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic clinics as well as some hospitals, and over 1,000 providers internationally.
